You’re so funny! Am leaving to go to Istanbul in 2 weeks and I’d like to know how I could share some of my own stories in the same format such as yours ~ I loved it! It’s more entertaining and it really stick with you. Anyway, I’m sure it was great times nonetheless. Thanks for the laughs…

Sounds like you had a nice time, had a home-cooked meal that I am sure was delicious. The carpet most likely cost less than if you bought it here. So what’s the problem? Did they hold a gun to your head?

This reminds me of being in China and spending $50 on crane paintings just so I could talk a bit longer with some young girls about what life was like for teens in China. You aren’t so much buying a rug or painting or other souvenir as you are an experience. And the extra they tack on to the price cause you are a tourist is the tax you have to pay for that glimpse inside a culture.
